Ancient Vergina, Veria City and Museum of Pella from Thessaloniki

Take a deep dive into the culture of the ancient Kingdom of Macedonia during this full-day private guided tour to the Pella and Vergina archaeological sites. Get to know the imperial capital Pella, the ancient city where Alexander the Great was born and raised and where the great philosopher and tutor Aristoteles was invited to educate him. The excursion travels you to the ancient Greek, Byzantine and modern history bringing back in light the lost prestige of Aigai, the first capital of the Macedonians and their royal necropolis. Discover the museum of the royal tombs of Aigai; a World Heritage site of UNESCO, as well as the New Museum of Aigai. First stop at the birthplace of Alexander the Great, Ancient Pella archaeological site and its new excellent museum. Pella was the second ancient capital of the Macedonian kingdom. We will see the unique ancient mosaic pebble floors in the rich mansions, as well as all the important finds of the area, including pottery, jewelry, mosaics, coins in the new museum.

Next stop, the first ancient capital of the Macedonian kingdom, Aigai or Vergina. We'll see the Royal Tombs of King Philip II (father of Alexander the Great), Prince Alexander (son of Alexander the Great) and the exhibition housing their gold and silver royal treasures. Go underground to admire the treasures of gold, silver and ivory hidden in Great Tumulus.

We will visit the city of Veria, stroll around its narrow preserved quarters, see the altar of Apostle Paul and the Jewish Synagogue, the oldest in Balkans. Optionally, you have the chance to enjoy your lunch here.
