The ancient settlement of Kigoma, also known as Kigoma/Ujiji, is one of the earliest towns in East Africa, along with Lamu, Mombasa, Kilwa, Bagamoyo, and Zanzibar. The town was a major center for commerce and the slave trade. On this excursion, you'll visit one of Lake Tanganyika's oldest ports (Kigoma Port). Luckily, you will get the chance to see the Mv. Liemba, the German ship, one of the oldest ships remaining in existence. You will be driven to the Kigoma Railway Station, which was built in 1913 by Germany to finish the extensive central railway that is still in use today. The next stop is the Kigoma Roman Catholic Church before continuing on to the Dr. Livingstone Memorial Museum, which is known for the Henry Stanley Molton quotation "I suppose."
