The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, commonly known as the Egyptian Museum or the Museum of Cairo, houses an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. It features around 120,000 objects, though only a portion are on display while the majority are kept in storage. Constructed in 1901 by the Italian firm Garozzo-Zaffarani, it is one of the largest museums in the region. The museum is set to be replaced by the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, which opened in 2020.
