Campo de Fiori translates to 'field of flowers' in English. It got its name because it was just that before 1465 when it became paved. Following the flowers came public executions where the great philosopher, Giordano Bruno was burnt at the stake. You can see a statue in his honor. Today there is a fruit, vegetable and flower market in the centre.
