Experience Authentic Kyoto Gion Geisha/Maiko Cultural Tour

Enjoy a live performance of a traditional dance accompanied by authentic shamisen and singing by maiko or geiko and a former geiko who is also a teahouse owner, and a matcha green tea experience while learning the proper etiquette. As the tour is limited to 10 people, you can enjoy a leisurely conversation with the maiko or geiko and the owner of the teahouse. Feel free to take a commemorative photo with the maiko or geiko. [Only February 2025 Tours] You will also enter to the Gion Kagai Art Museum, where visitors can gain a deeper insight into the culture of kagai, traditional entertainment districts featuring the culture of geiko and maiko. This walking tour is accompanied by a English speaking guide.

From the Gion Kagai Art Museum to Teahouse, your English-speaking guide will lead you through the charming streets of Gion, including the iconic Hanamikoji Street, offering fascinating insights into Gion's history and culture.

At Teahouse, watch a traditional dance performance by maiko or geiko, enjoy a matcha green tea experience, and take a commemorative photo with the maiko or geiko amidst the atmosphere of a tatami room meticulously designed with the architect's attention to detail.

If the Gion Kagai Art Museum is closed without prior notice, there will be extra time to stroll around Gion, and the guide will give explanations about Gion's history, culture, and customs. Furthermore, the admission fee will be refunded by the guide (JPY 1,500/Adult, JPY 700/Child).

• Parental permission in writing is necessary for all tour participants under the age of eighteen. Any participant under the age of fifteen or not yet enrolled in middle school must be joined by a parent or guardian on the tour.
