Soweto has one of the largest black population in South Africa and has a very rich history of what transpired during apartheid days. Some of the houses were built during apartheid days and the dark past is demonstrated in two iconic museums called Hector Pieterson and Nelson Mandela House Museum with each having a deep sad past depicted in the photos at both museums.

The Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum, situated in Orlando West, Soweto, commemorates the role of the country’s students in the struggle against apartheid. You will learn about South Africa's history during Apartheid.

The Nelson Mandela National Museum, commonly referred to as Mandela House, is the house on Vilakazi Street, Orlando West, Soweto, South Africa, where Nelson Mandela lived from 1946 to 1962

Right next door to the Orlando Towers is Soweto Outdoor Adventures, which hosts quad biking, go karting, races and paintball. It makes for a great opportunity to go quad biking around the towers or put foot and race around the dirt tracks
