Private Tour: UNESCO Archaeological Heritage Of The Lenggong Valley from Ipoh

Lenggong Valley is considered as one of Malaysia’s most valuable archaeological site. In fact, the oldest known human activity can be traced back to this site. Some archaeological experts have dubbed Lenggong Valley as an open-air museum – there is evidence of cave drawings, skeletons and precious finds (weapons, stone tools, pottery, etc) within the area. Situated in the lush Lenggong Valley, the property includes four archaeological sites in two clusters which span close to 2 million years, one of the longest records of early man in a single locality, and the oldest outside the African continent. It features open-air and cave sites with Palaeolithic tool workshops, evidence of early technology. The number of sites found in the relatively contained area suggests the presence of a fairly large, semi-sedentary population with cultural remains from the Palaeolithic, Neolithic and Metal ages. Lenggong Valley was added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites on 30th June 2012.

Explore to the archaeological cave and prehistoric dig sites such as Gua Kajang, Gua Gelap, Gua Asar, Gua Ngaum, Gua Puteri, Gua Khubah@Istana, and there's even a newer discovery that they found Perak Woman at Gua Teluk Kelawar. *Note that in the event of closure for certain cave site, a replacement will be made.

This newly establish information centre setup by University Science Malaysia (USM) tells the history of the meteorite impact and prehistoric human settlements

Get to know the details after venturing into the archaeological sites. Currently in renovation, temporary display had been set up by the museum.

Stop by the royal mosque, the old palace, and sightseeing around the Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar. Closes every Friday for prayers.

Return to Ipoh after completion of the tour, the journey from Kuala Kangsar to Ipoh takes roughly 50 minutes

Lunch time will be going for the Kuala Kangsar's signature dish of Laksa Kuala AKA Laksa Kuala Kangsar or Laksa Perak. This underrated rice noodle dish is very well known amongst the local but still has not gotten the recognition it deserves and it's actually our favorite Laksa dish amongst all the Laksa variants in Malaysia!

Since we're going to the caves in jungle, you'll need to come prepared. Things to bring will be 1) Shoes that are suitable for hiking/trekking, normal sports shoes doesn't hold any grip and will be useless/slippery. 2) Insect repellent, long socks & long pants (no jeans) as there will be leeches if the soil is wet. 3) Change of clothes & shoes, bring a pair of sandals for the rest of the day. 4) And of course drinking water!
